Today was our last day in Sweden and tomorrow we catch the train to Norway. I can't believe we've been abroad for 4 months now and we only have 2 countries left to go!! This time has truly flown by quickly.
Today was not super eventful since we had to spend much of the day doing laundry. The apartment we're staying at here has an interesting system, such that we had to go down to the basement and down the creepy corridor where there was a schedule table. Then we had to lock in a gadget to reserve our time slot and since all the good times were already taken we got left with the middle of the day today. Which we figured was fine since the weathermen projected it was supposed to rain all day. But then it turned in to a beautiful day. Of course!
So during laundry we were able to finish The People Vs OJ Simpson show on Netflix and wow, was it crazy! Spoiler alert- he was found not guilty. Then we were also able to get some planning done as well.
After we got our laundry sorted out we went to enjoy the beautiful day. Jack had messaged me last night to inform us that the subway stations were really unique in Stockholm and that we should check them out. After looking into it further I realized that the station nearest us that we've gone into at least twice a day since we've been here is actually one of the top ones to see! We had noticed that the decorations were unique and we discussed it briefly but we didn't realize it was a thing so we didn't think to much else about it. But how funny is that?! So today we took more notice and also stopped at a few other stations along the way (since apparently the Blue line has some of the best and that's our line anyway!). They were pretty cool! The walls are all cave-like and they have all been painted differently by over 150 artists. Apparently the Stockholm subway system is said to be the world's longest art exhibit since it stretches 110 kilometers!
Kungsträdgården station:
We finally left the subway via Centralen station again and we just walked around for awhile. Since it is a beautiful Saturday there were lots of people out so it was fun just to people watch. And for any Pokémon-Goers out there- we were perusing through Hötorget market where I caught a Mr. Mime! I was pretty excited.
Then we got some dinner at a sports bar near Centralen station that Matt had been eyeing for days and we were able to sit on the patio which was nice. One thing I've forgotten to mention in my earlier posts but that we have experienced our last few days in Stockholm is the large dump trucks driving around with lots of excited teenagers yelling and singing along with the blaring music. They also generally have signs but we could never read what they said, obviously. They seemed to be having a really good time although we really didn't understand what this was about until we asked our waitress yesterday. Apparently it's a tradition that the high school kids do after the last day of school to celebrate the start of summer break, and whichever group/school is voted to be the loudest then they win the contest. So we found that pretty interesting!
That's all for now! See ya in Norway.
